POSITION SUMMARY: 
Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Security, this graveyard shift supervisor position provides immediate supervision and training of the Security Staff in the performance of their duties including but not limited to the functioning and maintenance of the Security, Safety and Guest Services programs in support of the Academy's overall mission. The Graveyard Shift Supervisor position will supervisor and assist the security department with day to day operation during graveyard shifts. his position is a full time position. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays. The Academy is open 365 days a year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the conduct and behavior of officers working on graveyard shift
  • Develop work schedules and make shift assignments
  • Conduct daily inspections of the officers and brief them as necessary
  • Assist in the training of security and other related personnel
  • Train officers and department support staff in the following duties:
    • Maintenance of ongoing established security and safety protocols
    • General security maintenance including Department logs, reports and records
    • Protection of Academy Property, exhibits and assets
    • Facilitation of the Academy's "Platinum" Service Standard
    • Performance of CPR or First Aid in emergency situations
    • Communicate via hand held-radio in a 24 hour/day communications cycle
    • Emergency response in Security, Safety and Facility Operations situations
  • Coach, monitor, and develop team members for improved performance
  • Offer guidelines and resources for security officers to achieve defined goals.
  • Act as Incident Commander in the event of an emergency until properly relieved
  • Coordinate responses to all emergency assistance requests
  • Follow all Academy safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred.

  • Ability to work in a high energy environment and engage in heavy public contact
  • Ability to provide "Platinum" level service to both internal and external clients
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse internal and external clients
  • Applicants must be full time and average 30 hours a week minimum 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A qualified candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience:

  • An Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Security or Fire Science
  • At least two years of security officer experience 
  • Two years of supervisory work experience in a related field
  • Be certified or able to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED/O2 administration
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a California Guard Card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the area of supervision
  • Available to work all shifts in a 24/7/365 work environment
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications
  • Communicate via two way radio with officers
  • Comfortable contacting emergency services via telephone

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write clear and concise incident reports, correspondence, and to edit the same for subordinates. Be able to speak effectively in front of a group.
