POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Expanded Learning and Youth Engagement (EL&YE), the Partnerships and Marketing Specialist is responsible for helping to increase the number of programs that use Science Action Club curriculum and training resources. Working with the Science Action Club team, this position will design and implement a marketing and outreach strategy that includes email campaigns, social media, direct outreach at industry events, and relationship building with individuals to identify and engage new education partners, such as school districts, afterschool networks, regional and national out-of-school time organizations, summer camps, libraries, afterschool, and other youth-serving programs to join the growing Science Action Club network. This is a benefits-eligible 30-hour per week position with an annual prorated salary. Designed for middle school youth in out-of-school time, Science Action Club is a nationwide STEM program that features staff training and teaching kits that inspire wonder for the natural world. Through games, projects, and hands-on activities, youth in Science Action Club explore nature, contribute to authentic science research, and design strategies to protect the planet. Educators receive guided support on how to use Science Action Club kits and activity guidebooks, as well as best practices for teaching science and nature in the informal learning environment. From rural Alaska to midtown Manhattan, over 42,000 youth and educators in more than 200 cities and towns have participated in Science Action Club since 2011.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Increase the number of education programs using Science Action Club resources; meet and achieve target goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and grow the recruitment pipeline for new users; identify potential new markets or audiences.
  • Actively prospect and develop new business opportunities and serve as brand ambassador at out-of-school time industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Keep abreast of trends and issues that impact the out-of-school time market, and collaborate with the Science Action Club team to respond as needed.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain productive business relationships with new partners and programs; work with the Community and Outreach Lead to mobilize existing partners to promote Science Action Club.
  • Design, develop and maintain an active, up-to-date marketing database and directory of marketing materials.
  • Produce digital campaigns (e-newsletters, marketing e-blasts) and associated marketing assets to execute a successful communication strategy; collaborate with the Marketing department to design and implement a social media and promotion strategy.
  • Coordinate and chaperone site visits for partners and special guests.
  • Represent EL&YE and the Academy internally and with external community partners.
  • Contribute broadly to the Academy's mission and assist with projects and initiatives that leverage strengths across the EL&YE portfolio, including occasional supervision of Academy youth programs participants.
  • Implement and follow all Academy safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, marketing degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting marketing and/or sales goals.
  • Experience with lead generation, e-marketing, and partnership development, preferably within education, although experience in other industries is welcome.
  • Experience working with or for out-of-school time program providers preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to research target markets and pursue successful strategies for lead generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow strategic partnerships.
  • Knowledge of the education field required; knowledge of the out-of-school time field preferred.
